American Manganese Inc (CVE:AMY) (OTCMKTS:AMYZF) has hailed the work of its contractor, Kemetco Research, which has produced a nickel-cobalt sulfate product at 99.99% purity using the group's ground-breaking recycling process.
The company said it will now ship this recycled product back to the tier-one company which originally supplied the cathode scrap used, for its own testing and independent analysis.

American Manganese is a critical metals company focused on recycling lithium-ion batteries to extract cathode metals, such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, and aluminum at battery-grade purity.
"We are extremely impressed with the Kemetco team and their ability to adapt and optimize our patented RecycLiCo process to produce recycled sulfate material for a tier-one battery manufacturer," Larry Reaugh, president and CEO of American Manganese, told investors in a statement on Thursday.
"Sulfates were requested by more than one tier-one company that has been in discussion with American Manganese, so we are pleased with our capabilities," he added.
American Manganese noted in the statement that it first reported a 99.98% pure nickel-cobalt hydroxide product from recycling tests, but that production of this nickel-cobalt sulfate was 'a first' for the company as it continues to expand its portfolio of recycling capabilities.
Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, the firm said it expected delays in shipment to the Tier 1 company and testing but that it will report on results as they are received and reviewed.
American Manganese is tailoring its recycling products to be integrated into the newest generation cathodes in lithium-ion batteries.
It believes that the current lower oil prices won't stop the massive shift to electric vehicles (EVs) due to stricter CO2 emission levels and the superior performance and operating cost of such vehicles.
Shares in American Manganese added 4% in Toronto to $0.13 each.
