NexTech AR Solutions Corp (OTCQB:NEXCF) (CSE:NTAR) has officially launched its 3D augmented reality scanning app, ARitize 360.

The app, available for free download on iOS and Android, allows users to create 3D/AR assets using cell phone video.

NexTech plans to market the app to the shoe and sneaker industry, where photorealistic scans can be made at scale — something that hasn’t always been possible. Previously, AR capture has been a time consuming process costing between $250 and $2,500 per product, the company said.

“The app will employ the freemium business model, whereby a user gets a free 3D/AR scan [but will] be billed for additional scans as well as be charged a monthly subscription fee for hosting the 3D asset,” CEO Evan Gappelberg said in a statement. “Together the two could add substantial revenue to the company's bottom line.”

Ultimately, NexTech hopes to expand from shoes to the clothing industry more broadly and use the app to generate new clients for its network of ecommerce offerings.

“The app will also act as a lead generation tool and will be a boost to the company's existing AR e-commerce solutions as well as its recently launched, 3D/AR advertising platform. ARitize360 makes creating 3D objects easy, anyone can do it with our app combined with our Aritize platform, no special training or skills required making this a major industry breakthrough,” Gappelberg said.

NexTech is currently pursuing the use of AR technology across four key verticals: e-commerce, education, entertainment and advertising. It is also seeing a surge in demand for some of its services as the coronavirus pandemic boosts home working.
