Thunderbird Entertainment Group Inc (CVE:TBRD) (OTCMKTS:THBRF) said Monday that it has begun production on a new spinoff of its hit series Highway Thru Hell.

The new series, currently titled Mud Mountain, documents the logging world through the eyes of two brothers from a family of loggers in the mountains of British Columbia.

"This is an incredibly authentic series about two brothers mired in a mountain of mud and family history," said Mark Miller, president of Thunderbird Entertainment. "It is an important commission. In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, our partners have showed incredible courage to support the industry in this way."

According to Thunderbird, Mud Mountain will create around 300 jobs, mostly in rural British Columbia. The entertainment company has implemented numerous health protocols in light of the coronavirus pandemic that have allowed production to continue safely, it told shareholders.

The series is produced by Thunderbird’s factual division Great Pacific Media in partnership with Bell Media Studios, which will also distribute the program globally. Bell’s Discovery division has ordered eight one-hour episodes of Mud Mountain.

"We are excited to be working again with Great Pacific on this latest addition to the Highway Thru Hell franchise,” Bell Media’s senior vice-president, original program said in a statement. “Great Pacific are blue chip producers, and Mud Mountain is an exciting, character-driven series set in the heart of British Columbia that we think fans will love.”

"We couldn't be more excited to launch a brand-new project from the producers of a fan-favourite Highway Thru Hell," said Edwina Follows, general manager, Discovery. "Congratulations to the entire team at Great Pacific on what's sure to be another thrilling original series."

Thunderbird's Highway Thru Hell recently wrapped up its eighth season, which consisted of 17 episodes.
