Meteoric Resources NL (ASX:MEI) continues to enhance the potential of Juruena Gold Project in Brazil with the latest results intersecting a new style of gold-copper mineralisation at Crentes and extending gold mineralisation at Dona Maria.
Hole JUDD024 intersected 9 metres at 15.6 g/t gold and 1.5% copper from 100 metres, including 6.0 metres at 21.6 g/t gold and 2.0% copper from 101 metres in the Crentes Fault.
In addition to the very high gold grades, this is the highest-grade copper zone intersected at Juruena and represents a new style of mineralisation not previously identified at the project, further enhancing the porphyry potential.
At Dona Maria high-grade zone, hole JUDD025 returned 3.4 metres at 10.1 g/t from 392 metres, including 0.5 metres at 71.9 g/t from 394.5 metres and this intersection is 100 metres down plunge of a 2019 hole that returned 4.35 metres at 13.5 g/t from 300.2 metres.
“Great start to 2020 drilling”
Managing director Andrew Tunks said: “The first results at Dona Maria have provided Meteoric with confirmation that the Dona Maria high-grade zone does indeed continue down dip and the intercept of 3.4 metres at 10 g/t gold is more than 100 metres below the base of the currently modelled mineral resource. This is a great start to the 2020 drilling.
“Equally exciting was the much shallower intercept of strong gold-copper grades associated with intense hydrothermal brecciation giving the best copper grades ever drilled on this project.
“The intersection of 9 metres at 15.6 g/t gold and 1.5% copper in JUDD024, in addition to comprising a spectacular gold intersection, eclipses the previous best copper result recorded at Juruena in JUDD010 – which recorded 54.3 metres at 1.33 g/t gold and 0.23% copper.
“Of huge interest to us is that the gold-copper intercept in JUDD024 is a whole new style of mineralisation and opens up further exploration opportunities that we will continue to chase throughout the 2020 field season.”
2020 drilling details
The 2020 exploration at Juruena started on June 9 with eight holes completed for 2,503 metres.
Assays for four holes have been received with multiple mineralised intersections reported.
The focus of the drilling to this point has been the high-grade Dona Maria prospect and the gold-copper Crentes prospect.
Meteoric plans to update the resource estimate at the end of the 2020 drilling campaign.
