Codebase says Arcology launches overhauled CryptoKitties blockchain game that outperforms the original '1,000 to 1'

Codebase Ventures Inc (CSE:CODE) (OTCQB:BKLLF) (FRA:C5B) announced Monday that its blockchain subsidiary Arcology has released an improved version of its Ethereum-powered CryptoKitties game.

CryptoKitties, which lets users collect and breed digital cats, is the most popular game on Ethereum blockchain, the company said. In fact, when the game debuted in 2017, its popularity congested the Ethereum network to the point that noticeable shutdowns hurt the performance of other apps.

The new version has been optimized to take advantage of Arcology’s processing power and native ability to dynamically adjust to network demands, the company said. According to Arcology President and founder Laurent Zhang, the revamped CryptoKitties — also known as LightspeedKitties — outperforms its predecessor by a factor of 1,000 to one.

To simulate roughly nine months of gameplay, Zhang and his team created five million user accounts that generated 2.5 million transactions running on 32 Ethereum Virtual Machines (EVMs). In this demonstration, Arcology’s game posted 30,000 transactions per second (TPS).

In contrast, Ethereum’s original network handles just 15 to 20 transactions per second. The long-awaited Ethereum 2.0, not expected until 2022, is forecast to process at most 3,000 transactions per second.

Additionally, Ethereum’s transaction fees often increase dramatically during network surges like the ones caused by the original CryptoKitties, but Arcology solves this problem by using artificial intelligence and adaptive learning to run a blockchain that is faster, more powerful and more flexible, the company said.

“We’ve proven that, with relatively minor modifications to their source code, Ethereum-based applications can be optimized for greater speed on our blockchain,” Zhang said in a statement. “This is just the first of several planned demonstrations of Arcology’s capabilities.”

The launch of LightspeedKitties comes less than a month after Arcology successfully debuted its Testnet 2.0 system. Together, these two projects represent significant progress toward the company’s goal of capturing market share from Ethereum, the world’s largest smart contract-based blockchain.

Codebase currently owns 30% of Arcology, with an option to increase its ownership to 51%. Arcology’s public github code, including LightspeedKitties, can be found on the company’s website. Qualified developers are invited to run their own instances on the Arcology testnet to see the performance benefits first-hand by reaching out to ir@codebase.ventures and providing relevant professional credentials, the company said.
