Ceylon Graphite says the CAMI Technology has been validated for batteries and energy cells in addition to industrial end-user applications

Ceylon Graphite Corp (CVE:CYL) (OTCMKTS:CYLYF) (FRA:CCY) reported that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for an exclusive global licence with Cambridge Advanced Materials Innovation Consultancy Ltd involving certain technology and the associated intellectual property of the CAMI Technology, which is related to a method of producing high-quality few-layer graphene and derivatives by exfoliation of processed high-grade vein graphite.

Ceylon Graphite said the highly-effective exfoliation process is low-energy consuming but results in increased yield (greater than 60%) of few-layer graphene products, which have been validated for batteries and energy cells in addition to industrial end-user applications.

“This is a huge development for Ceylon Graphite. As many of you have heard me say, our ultimate goal is to graduate from being a producer of high grade, environmentally friendly, natural graphite to a vertically integrated advanced material and technology company,” Ceylon Graphite CEO Bharat Parashar said in a statement.

He added: “This licence represents a significant step towards reaching that goal.”

The company noted that the CAMI Technology includes an unpublished Great Britain patent application (number 2101925) and other intellectual property, data, know-how, regulatory filings and other information.

CAMI and Ceylon Graphite anticipate entering into a definitive license agreement within the next 21 days.

Ceylon Graphite said it is one of the few producing natural graphite companies in the world, and one of a select few with access to vein graphite with average purity greater than 90% graphitic carbon (Cg) out of the ground, a purity level that eliminates the need for expensive primary upgrading commonly required for flake graphite found in most parts of the world.

The company also announced that it will be presenting at the following virtual investor conference in the next month and welcomes anyone interested to reach out for meeting requests and/or presentation details:

Ceylon Graphite, established in 2017, is producing graphite from mines in Sri Lanka to feed the battery metals industry.

The company holds a total land package of 121 square kilometres (sq km), which contains historic vein graphite deposits - as opposed to flake type graphite deposits.

These unique and comparatively higher margin vein (lump) deposits currently make up less than 1% of world graphite production and Ceylon's package represents the majority of known historic graphite resources in Sri Lanka.
