Brookside Energy kicks off multi-stage stimulation operation at Jewell Well

The energy stock is a step closer to bringing the Jewell Well online — the first in a five-year, 20-plus well development program centred on Brookside’s three owned and operated drill spacing units within its SWISH Area of Interest in the Anadarko Basin.

Brookside Energy Ltd (ASX:BRK) has kicked off its multi-stage stimulation operation at the pioneer Jewell Well, an oil & gas asset within its 'core of the core' holding in Oklahoma’s Anadarko Basin.

The energy stock recently appointed Liberty Oilfield Services to conduct completion work at the well, where the team has just rigged up and commenced the multi-stage hydraulic stimulation.

As it works to bring the Jewell Well online, Brookside has also connected a gas pipeline, which ties into the DCP Midstream sales line, to the well’s production facilities.

Looking ahead, the ASX-lister will complete the stimulation and move to clean-up work — the final stage before the well’s official completion — and test and commission the gas pipeline.

Stimulation underway

Now that Liberty has completed rigging up and equipment testing of the stimulation equipment, multi-stage hydraulic stimulation operations have commenced on the Jewell Well.

During these “plug and perforate” operations, each stage will be treated individually before moving onto the next stage, beginning at the toe.

It is estimated that this step of the completion operations will take approximately seven to 10 days to complete.

All work to date has been completed safely and without incident.

Next on the agenda

Brookside’s to-do list at Jewell now includes:

  • Completing the multi-stage hydraulic stimulation operations;
  • Rigging down stimulation equipment, rigging up the coil tubing unit, milling out the isolation plugs for each stage and commencing circulation and cleanup operations;
  • Kicking off the recovery of hydraulic stimulation fluid from the well; and
  • Completing the connection of the gas pipeline to the local sales line and conducting testing and commission work.

This final stage of the overall completion operations, which includes removing the isolation plugs, clean-up, and recovery of stimulation fluid, is expected to take between 14 and 20 days to complete.

Ultimately, the Jewell Well will be the first producing asset in a five-year, 20-well-plus well inventory strategy, centred on three operated development areas within Brookside’s SWISH Area of Interest (AOI) in the Anadarko oil and gas basin.
