Published: 03:51 30 Sep 2021 EDT

Ms. Quynh Le Yen, Portfolio Manager of the UCITS fund – Vietnam Equity (UCITS) Fund at Dragon Capital joins Proactive London to talk through their recent performance.

The fund just celebrated its eighth anniversary, up 265% since then, Quynh has been PM throughout that period and explains how they work in line with being the first UCITS fund in Vietnam .

The market liquidity was $40m daily and now it’s routinely over $1bn, market cap was about $50bn back then and now it’s nearly $300bn, which means the Vietnam market is now great for UCITS structure. Over one year the fund is up 79% vs. 55% in the Vietnam Index (or 41% vs. 25% YTD).

VEF is designed to provide investors with broad exposure to Vietnam’s public equity markets and seeks medium to long term capital appreciation through investing primarily in securities issued by Vietnamese companies that are traded on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the Unlisted Public Company Market (UPCoM) or another recognised market, although up to 10% of the Net Asset Value of the Fund may comprise securities that are traded over the counter or are unlisted. VEF is managed in reference to VN Index.
