Great Western Mining Corporation PLC (AIM:GWMO) said a 14km road to its Mineral Jackpot properties in the US has been upgraded, enabling access for larger vehicles.
"Completion of this road represents a very positive start to the 2022 work season on our claims in Mineral County, Nevada and is a significant step in enabling us to exploit the Mineral Jackpot area,” said chairman Brian Hall.
“Our field team is in place and well advanced in preparations for first drilling, likely to commence at the Rock House properties, the precise timing of which will depend on the drill contractor.”
The road connects the company's base at Marietta to Mineral Jackpot which is made up of five historic mines that have not been exploited recently.
Great Western has identified the potential for further gold and silver exploitation as a result of sampling and surveys conducted over the last two years.
The road was widened to give access to large vehicles, including rigs and associated equipment for drilling operations and trucks to remove material from spoil heaps for processing.
Last month, the company announced encouraging results from the spoil heaps.
