AtaiBeckley shares clinical and preclinical data at ACNP Annual Meeting

AtaiBeckley NV (NASDAQ:ATAI, XETRA:9VC) announced that it participated in the 64th Annual Meeting of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP), held January 12 to 15, 2026, in Nassau, The Bahamas, where the company presented two scientific posters and delivered a Hot Topic Presentation.
The clinical-stage biotechnology company said the presentations included new clinical and preclinical data related to its mental health development programs. The data were shared through two poster presentations, one of which was also selected for the ACNP Hot Topics Session.
Dr David Feifel, Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego, and Founder and President of the Kadima Neuropsychiatry Institute, presented efficacy and safety data from AtaiBeckley’s Phase 2b clinical trial evaluating BPL-003 (mebufotenin benzoate) nasal spray in patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD).
The poster, titled “Rapid Antidepressant Effect of Intranasal BPL-003 (5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine) in Treatment-Resistant Depression: A Phase 2b Double-Blind Study,” was selected for inclusion in the meeting’s Hot Topics Session.
According to the presentation, the study evaluated single doses of 8 mg and 12 mg of BPL-003 compared with a 0.3 mg sub-perceptual dose control.
The data showed that both active doses were associated with statistically significant antidepressant effects that were described as rapid and sustained across all assessed timepoints in the study. The company reported that both dose levels were generally well-tolerated.
The findings were presented as supporting further evaluation of intranasal BPL-003 in later-stage clinical development, the company said.
In a separate presentation, Dr Michelle Kokkinou, Senior Scientist, Non-Clinical Development at AtaiBeckley, presented preclinical data in a poster titled “The Pharmacological, Pharmacokinetic and Potential Neuroplasticity-Related Profile of 5-MeO-DMT (mebufotenin), a 5-HT Receptor Agonist for the Treatment of Mood Disorders.”
The poster described in vitro and in vivo studies examining receptor binding, pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and potential mechanisms of action of 5-MeO-DMT. The company stated that the preclinical findings provided data relevant to the investigation of 5-MeO-DMT as a potential treatment for mood disorders, including effects related to neuroplasticity that may be associated with such conditions.
