Boeing Co - Boeing shares jump as CFO’s positive outlook boosts investor confidence

Boeing Co (NYSE:BA, ETR:BCO) shares jumped more than 6% after its chief financial officer Brian West delivered a positive outlook for the airplane manufacturer.

Speaking at the Bank of America Global Industrials Conference, West said the company’s first quarter performance is meeting expectations.

“We think we’re off to a good start for the year,” West said.

He highlighted the company’s production efficiency, describing the factory's performance in its push to achieve 38 737 Max aircraft per month as "fantastic.”

Production of the 787 Dreamliner has stabilized at five per month with plans to increase output, he added.

West also noted that the company’s cash burn is easing, with improvement in the “hundreds of millions” of dollars, and that Boeing does not expect a material near-term impact from tariffs on its supply chain.

West’s comments boosted investor sentiment towards Boeing, with shares up 6.4% at about $172 late morning on Wednesday.

Also boosting the stock was the news Japan Airlines plans to acquire 17 additional Boeing 737-8 aircraft, following a March 2023 order for 21 of the aircraft.
