Thor Explorations CEO on high-grade gold discovery below Segilola pit

Published: 09:30 06 Aug 2026 EDT

Thor Explorations Ltd (TSX-V:THX, AIM:THX, OTC:THXPF, FRA:T2X) CEO Segun Lawson spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about new drilling results at the Segilola Mine in Nigeria that are building confidence in extending the operation beyond its original mine plan.

Extensive drilling beneath the existing open pit has intersected high-grade mineralisation at depth, while a new high-grade zone has been identified in the northern part of the deposit. Lawson said the results have already added ounces to the resource inventory and remain open at depth, supporting studies into both underground mining and open pit expansion. "We've now defined a very well constrained high grade sheet in the North, which previously we hadn't tested that area. We're extremely excited by this," he said.

Lawson also pointed to the strong gold price environment as a boost to project economics, allowing the company to lower processing cut-off grades and assess narrower underground mineralisation that may previously have been uneconomic.

Looking ahead, Thor is targeting roughly 300,000 additional ounces before publishing a resource update and formal mine life extension, with continued drill results expected from both the southern and northern areas of Segilola over the next five to six months.
