Blue Origin rocket launches Katy Perry and all-female crew to space

Jeff Bezos’ aerospace company Blue Origin successfully launched its first all-female crew into space on Monday aboard the New Shepard rocket.
The NS-31 mission featured six high-profile women: singer Katy Perry, broadcast journalist Gayle King, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, aerospace engineer and former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe, and journalist Lauren Sánchez, who is also Bezos’ fiancée.
It was the first all-women spaceflight since 1963.
The suborbital journey lasted around 11 minutes, taking the crew past the Kármán line, the recognized boundary of space, 62 miles above Earth, where they experienced a brief period of zero gravity.
During the flight, Amanda Nguyen conducted onboard research related to plant disease and women's health.
The rocket reached speeds over Mach 3 before the capsule returned safely to land in the Texas desert.
