Baselode Energy Corp (TSX-V:FIND, OTCQB:BSENF) and Forum Energy Metals Corp (TSX-V:FMC, OTCQB:FDCFF) said on Wednesday they are preparing to open their exploration camp at the Aberdeen project in Nunavut, with plans to begin a two-drill diamond drilling program in July targeting uranium mineralization.
The announcement comes just days following the news that the two companies are planning to merge into a new company, Geiger Energy, which will focus on uranium exploration in Nunavut and Saskatchewan’s Athabasca Basin.
In Nunavut, the companies plan to drill between 18 and 25 holes, totaling up to 7,000 metres, across 10 high-priority target areas, including both sandstone-covered and basement-only zones.
Initial drilling will focus on the Loki and Bjorn targets, which have previously shown promising signs such as elevated uranium values and significant clay alteration.
“Our focus this year is to explore the wider project area by testing up to 10 high-priority target areas for additional uranium mineralized zones,” said Rebecca Hunter, CEO of Forum and the upcoming Geiger Energy. “Our plan is to showcase the uranium discovery potential of the project area by testing numerous blue-sky targets.”
Baselode CEO James Sykes added that the company is encouraged by the technical details of the project. “Many previous drill holes have highlighted robust hydrothermal fluid alteration systems that are fertile with uranium,” he said. “We believe our combined efforts and ideas will expedite a discovery.”
The 2025 exploration program aims to build scale and boost the discovery potential of the broader district.
The companies also plan to conduct ground magnetic surveys on six to ten target areas to further refine drill targeting.
