Apollo Minerals finds critical mineral gallium at Kroussou

Apollo Minerals Managing Director Neil Inwood talked with Proactive about the discovery of gallium at the company’s Kroussou zinc and lead project in Gabon. The finding follows recent fieldwork and analysis of existing drill data, which revealed a high-grade gallium cap overlaying much of the project's lead-zinc mineralisation zones.

Inwood explained that the gallium had only been identified in areas already drilled in recent years, and that the rest of the company’s 900 square kilometre tenement is now a strong target for further gallium exploration. “The whole 900 square kilometre tenement is now a very good exploration target for additional gallium,” he said.

The company’s ongoing work has also confirmed high-grade surface zones of zinc and lead, with rock chips returning grades of up to 3.5%. Notably, gallium grades were also detected in these same locations, supporting the potential for a vertically stacked mining approach with gallium credits above the lead-zinc zones.

Gallium is currently classified as a critical mineral, with global supply dominated by China. Inwood noted that Gabon’s strategic position and growing U.S. investment interest could position Apollo Minerals to benefit from shifts in global gallium sourcing.
