Talga MD says Talnode-C milestone opens high-power battery markets

Talga Group Ltd (ASX:TLG, OTCQX:TLGRF, FRA:TGX) managing director Mark Thompson joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to discuss the company's first commercial shipments of Talnode-C and what the milestone means for Western battery supply chains.
Thompson explained that graphite-based anode material is the largest component of lithium-ion batteries, yet commercial production outside Asia remains extremely limited. Talga's vertically integrated operation combines its Swedish graphite mine with downstream purification, shaping and coating — producing foreign entity of concern-free material and offering customers a genuine alternative to Chinese supply. "This is very significant because not only is Talga listed on the stock exchanges here, but we also use all of our own production technology," he said.
Growing demand from robotics, AI data centres, drones, energy storage and defence applications is driving interest in high-performance batteries requiring faster charging and rapid discharge capabilities — markets where Talga sees strong commercial potential.
Looking ahead, the company is targeting additional customers, offtake agreements, financing partners and strategic investors to support the larger Vittangi anode project, with further commercial agreements and potential opportunities in the US, Europe and Japan on the horizon.
