Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX, ETR:NFC) has raised prices on most of its US subscription plans, marking its first price hike for its ad-supported tier.
The standard plan without ads is increasing from $15.49 to $17.99 per month, while the premium plan will rise from $22.99 to $24.99. The ad-supported plan will jump from $6.99 to $7.99.
The company has also adjusted pricing for “extra members” added to standard plans without ads, which now cost $8.99 per month, up from $7.99. Extra members on ad-supported plans remain unchanged.
Netflix, which added a record 19 million subscribers in the fourth quarter to surpass 300 million global memberships, has leaned on measures like cracking down on password sharing and boosting its ad-supported tier.
In November, the company reported 70 million monthly active users on its ad plans.
Price increases will also apply in Canada, Portugal, and Argentina. The company said nothing about pricing outside the Americas.
