Meren Energy Inc -

Meren Energy Inc (TSX:MER, OTC:AOIFF) earlier this week reported its second-quarter results, highlighting continued execution of its shareholder return policy. The company paid a dividend of US$25 million and announced a third consecutive quarterly payment of the same amount.

CFO Aldo Perracini told Proactive that this reflects the company’s ability to deliver on commitments despite a volatile commodity pricing environment.

Proactive: You just came out with your second-quarter results. What were the key takeaways for the quarter?

Aldo Perracini: The key takeaways for the second quarter are the continuous delivery of our shareholder return policy, where we paid another US$25 million. We have also announced the third US$25 million payment and delivered on deleveraging our balance sheet.

So, as you mentioned, you've announced your third consecutive quarterly dividend of US$25 million. What should the market read into this?

I think the market should read that we are in a very strong position to deliver the promises we have made and the returns, even when navigating through a very volatile commodity pricing environment, as we are currently in.

And why is the company proactively paying down its debt?

First, because we can — we have the cash. Second, because it reduces our interest expenses. We are already in a strong balance sheet position.

Looking through the results, it looks like there’s plenty of excitement to come in the second half and into 2026 — further drilling, progress towards the Venus final investment decision in Namibia, possible high-impact drilling in South Africa, and a formal process in Equatorial Guinea.

There’s a lot to deliver in the second half. We are very confident that we are going to keep delivering on our promises. We are looking forward to this exciting period.
