Baselode Energy reports first unconformity-style mineralization in northeast Thelon Basin

Baselode Energy Corp (TSX-V:FIND, OTCQB:BSENF), reported that it has identified elevated radioactivity in sandstone just above the unconformity at its Loki target on the Aberdeen project in Nunavut.
The company said the finding represents the first intersection of uranium mineralization within the sandstone above the unconformity in the northeast Thelon Basin.
According to Baselode, drill hole LOK25-007 intersected a 2.2-metre zone of elevated radioactivity between 164.0 and 166.2 metres, reaching up to 540 counts per second on a radiometric downhole probe.
Five reconnaissance drill holes have been completed at the Loki gravity anomaly, which extends nearly 4 kilometres. The company reported that four of the five holes showed significant clay alteration, bleaching, sooty sulphide and limonite in the sandstone, along with altered brittle structures interpreted as evidence of post-Thelon fault movement.
Baselode stated these features are consistent with an unconformity-related hydrothermal system.
The Loki target consists of a Thelon sandstone outlier less than 150 metres thick.
“These results confirm the presence of unconformity uranium mineralization in the northeast Thelon Basin, significantly increasing the potential of the Loki target and our project as a whole,” Baselode CEO Rebecca Hunter said.
She added that these early results are significant because they demonstrate that a large unconformity hydrothermal system was active in the area.
“The alteration within the sandstone column is the most extensive observed in the Thelon Basin to date, and even the radioactivity at the unconformity suggests there's potential for a significant uranium deposit,” Hunter said.
“Furthermore, the Loki sandstone outlier and structural disruption within the Thelon sandstone point to substantial post-Basin fault movement, a key driver of the hydrothermal systems necessary for the formation of uranium deposits."
Baselode said assay results from the drill program will be released once available, and additional drilling will be required to assess the potential of the 4-by-1-kilometre gravity anomaly.
The company noted that results from other targets on the Aberdeen project, including Bjorn, Tarzan and Lobster, will be reported as data is processed.
