374Water Inc (NASDAQ:SCWO, FRA:8LL) announced that a newly released US Army Corps of Engineers technical report independently validated its AirSCWO technology, documenting a 99.9993% destruction and removal efficiency for PFAS in aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) during a demonstration conducted with Arcadis.

The report, published by the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), evaluated the company's AirSCWO system at 374Water's waste destruction facility in Orlando, Florida.

The demonstration assessed PFAS destruction efficiency, gaseous stack emissions, and operating performance using certified US Environmental Protection Agency testing methods. Arcadis co-authored the report and independently validated the results.

According to the report, the AirSCWO 6 system achieved a total PFAS destruction and removal efficiency of 99.9993%, as measured by the Total Oxidizable Precursor (TOP) Assay across 42 PFAS compounds. Individual PFAS destruction rates ranged from 99.994% to 100% based on EPA Method 1633 testing.

The company said treated liquid effluent met US EPA maximum contaminant levels for all regulated PFAS compounds, while direct gas-stack sampling found near-zero fluorinated emissions, with a detectable emission rate of 0.0005 grams per hour compared with a PFAS throughput of 16.6 grams per hour into the system.

The report also found that the AirSCWO process reduced chemical oxygen demand and total organic carbon in the treated effluent to near non-detectable levels while oxidizing the broader organic content of the AFFF.

"This is exactly the kind of rigorous, independent validation that the federal market demands," said Howard Teicher, vice president of government at 374Water.

"The US Army put our technology to the test on AFFF under field conditions, measured it with the most stringent methods available, and documented destruction of PFAS at 99.9993% with effluent clean enough to discharge and virtually nothing coming out of the stack. That gives federal decision-makers the confidence to move from studying PFAS destruction to actually deploying it."

374Water said the findings also support its recently announced memorandum of understanding with Arcadis, under which the companies plan to jointly pursue federal and commercial contracts for the destruction of AFFF and other PFAS-contaminated waste streams.

The company said it believes the validation advances the technology's readiness for deployment in the federal PFAS remediation market, where military installations continue to address legacy PFAS contamination and stockpiles.

Shares jumped nearly 9% on Thursday morning following the news.
